As much as I hate to be that guy, there are a handful of rules I expect you all to adhere by while roleplaying on my site. I mean, come on. I did some nice work on this place, don't make it all for nothin'.
There are various rules pertaining to I.C (In character) situations, as well as O.O.C (Out of Character) situations, all individually grasping a topic of shit that we really don't want to see people doing. If you do these, it'll range anywhere from a warning to an insta-ban, so just try as hard as you can not to fuck up.
Regardless of ALL the rules, the biggest one of all is pretty self explanatory...

I.C Rules |
O.O.C Rules |
1. Do NOT post in the roleplay until YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN APPROVED. You must create an application (see "join this rp") and submit it to us before you can post here. Once it's been approved, a mod will contact you and let you know you're free to post.
2. EVERY ABILITY/EQUIPMENT THAT YOU PITCH/BUY MUST BE APPROVED FIRST. That's probably one of the most important rules of this entire type of role-play.Every time you wish to buy an ability or a piece of equipment, or whenever you want to create your own unique versions at a higher level, you must pm a moderator and ask for it first. Even if you have the amount of skill points or gold asked for a certain thing, you can't just automatically assume you have it. Once the mod you've asked (see the class page for class-related mods, equipment will always be pitched to "Lucidea") has 100% said that you now own the equipment/ability, you can start using it. Using shit you don't have approved will lose your ass some experience, and I might just ban you if it's a continued problem. 3. Most of you should know this already, but just in case, do not Godmod. This includes things such as auto hitting (typing out that your character has actively struck someone, without giving them a chance to dodge or avoid the attack) constant avoidance of attacks (if there's no physical way your character could avoid an attack, don't just have him..like teleport or some shit), or using ridiculous abilities that are not approved. If you expect someone that you're in combat with is Godmoding, let a moderator know, and they'll sort it out. I've got VERY little patience for this kinda bullshit, so I'll probably ban pretty quickly if YOU know you're doing it. 4. Metagaming is also not allowed. This is essentially when you use your O.O.C knowledge to dictate your I.C actions. The two main types of metagaming are mindreading and saltposting. Mindreading is when your character knows something about a person/place/thing that they didn't learn in character. Your friend might show you his new ability O.O.C, but you can't give your character knowledge of this I.C until they see it for themselves. This also includes things like emotions and shit, because I see that happen ALL THE TIME (example: "He was upset, but his face still held a realistic smile" "He noticed he was upset, because jesus"). Saltposting is when disputes in the OOC (which shouldn't fucking happen anyway) are taken into character. If your I.C character has no reason to attack someone, do not attack them. This means if Johnny doesn't like Susan, Johnny can't attack Susan unless Johnny's character also doesn't like Susan (and has a legitimate reason not to). 5. You are only allowed one character in this roleplay until said character hit's level 30 on their main class. You are then allowed a second character, and can unlock a third by reaching 30 in their primary class, and so on. 6. The stats in this roleplay (see stats/equipment page) are simply just guidelines, and a way to make the RP feel more old-school game like. This means that if someone has like, 2 points more into strength than you, it doesn't mean that they'll be able to beat you in an arm wrestle EVERY TIME. do not take them to 100% heart, just keep them in mind when you're roleplaying. That being said, if you've got an agility of 2 and the person you're chasing has an agility of like 25-30, it's unlikely you're going to catch them. If a dispute about stats comes up, simply tell a moderator, and they'll sort it out. Also, you can calculate accurate hp/sp loss during your fight with someone IF YOU WANT. I personally don't really care about it, but make sure you both agree to it OOC before engaging. Regardless, still try to use them at least as guidelines, whats the point otherwise? 7. In most areas of this role play, (exceptions to this rule will be noted in the area description) you can not jump directly into someone else's rp without their O.O.C permission first. This is pretty relaxed for small things; such as just noticing someone in a general town, but if you somehow are able to see a character hiding in the shadows while you're in another section of a city, it'll be pretty retarded. Just ASK in the OOC chat if you can enter someone's roleplay, and don't post until they allow it. This is mainly so people can't just attack your character out of the blue, and makes it a little more fair. That being said, there are some area's in the roleplay where you WILL NOT BE SAFE, which brings us to the next rule. 8. If you are in combat with another player or NPC (Either in a safe zone, or in a rp you allowed to happen) and you attempt to flee, you MUST wait until the other fighters post ONCE more before you post anywhere else. They have the ability to give chase to your character, and stop you from leaving an area. They can even follow you into safer sections of the city and interact with you regardless of your permission. Make sure they've posted acknowledging your escape before you post anywhere else. 9. In any case, if combat does happen and you kill another player; there are various situations that can unfold, depending on where it took place. If anyone is around to see it (someone part of your rp, other characters in nonsafe zones, or if you do it in a general town like an idiot), a bounty will be placed on your characters head, and NPC guards and active PC's will hunt down your character until your bounty is paid, or you're killed/thrown in jail. If a player character captures you, they can turn you into the authorities, which will give them your bounty as gold, and some experience. In turn, you will have to go to jail for your crimes (or even be killed depending on the severity). Jail will disallow you from posting as said character for a certain amount of time, and will also merit loss of experience/skill points. If a player kills you, they will receive half your bounty. NOTE: IF YOU CAPTURE/KILL YOUR CHARACTER WITH ANOTHER OF YOUR OWN CHARACTERS, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE GOLD OR EXPERIENCE. 10. Act according to your level. If you make a post killing a monster that's generally level 10-15, and you're level 2, I'm going to void the entire post, and maybe even consider your character dead if you keep it up. I'm giving you the ability to post as the monsters your fighting in some scenarios because I trust you to make it work. Adhere by the monsters lore as well, or you'll lose experience gain. (See the bestiary for information about monsters). |
1. Don't use the I.C chats for O.O.C talk. I'll delete your entire post if you do. There's an O.O.C chat. use that instead.
2. Don't come in the OOC or any chat to advertise. I'll ban you immediately. If you're generally here to rp and are just posting something you think is cool, that's fine though. I encourage you to show us other rp's etc. 3. Keep your problems with each other OUT of the OOC and IC chats. Throwing a bit of shade or making fun of eachother is fine, and I'm not really going to bust anyone ass for trolling a little bit. However, if you're constantly starting a shitshow or creating drama, We'll ban you from the OOC. 4. If you're going to be a cocky dickbag and make fun of lower level players and act like a big tough guy, I'll personally void I.C rule #3 and #2, and create a godlike ass hole to fuck your shit. 5. No annoying backgrounds/fonts/sizes in your messages. Don't be that guy/girl. 6. If an argument comes down between you and a mod, the mod's likely going to win. Don't start a scene in the OOC, if you have a problem with the mods judgement, pm them and ask about it. If you think they're still being unfair, PM me on Lucidea. If you think I'm being unfair? Fuck off. 7. When you pitch abilities/equipment to an approver, only pm them on their designated account for approving. Also, only pm on the account you're using to rp here. 8. We all have lives, so make sure you discuss with your rp partners OOC before starting a roleplay with them, and ask about how frequently they can post. If it's known in the chat that an RP'r is going to be busy for a while, don't come complaining to me if they don't post. If you become postlocked, you can simply "walk away" from the rp as long as it wasn't in the middle of combat or an important situation. If someone takes too long to post in a combat situation, tell me and depending on the circumstances, I may allow your attack to auto-hit and knock them unconscious/kill them. That being said, don't enter COMBAT in rp unless you can consistently post. 9. Again, as I said, we all have lives. Tallying and adding up your experience and gold gain will hopefully be done every week or so, but depending on times where the staff is busy, please be patient and allow us to take some extra time. If you continuously cry to me about tallies/approvals, I'll never EVER approve your shit, or I might just neglect to tally you. Reminders are okay, as long as they're not constant bitchings. Fair enough? 10. I worked pretty hard on the lore for this roleplay, but that being said, I always welcome more. If you want to add your own brand of lore to the roleplay world, BRING IT UP WITH ME FIRST. If it's a good idea, I'll allow it. I might even make you staff if you're idea's are cool/consistent enough. However, if you decide to interject your lore into the world without asking me first. I'll retcon your post quicker than they retconned the deadpool in "Origins: Wolverine" ... ... Like much quicker, because they took years to retcon that shit. EITHER WAY I'LL VOID YOUR POST SO DONT DO IT PLS. And above all, this goes for anything regarding the roleplay, if you don't know something, ASK SOMEONE. It's better to clear it up with moderators of the site, but you can simply ask other rp'rs that frequent this place as well, if there's something you're not sure on. Lucidea is a big world, so it's unlikely I have all the information perfectly written here. Don't be afraid to ask us, okay?
