Throughout the ages, the four and one have dominated the resources of my orders research. Understanding how these energies work is paramount to creating different ways to utilize them. Understanding Evolutionary energies in general may be the key to stopping the plague of monstrosities that have been killing us for all these years."

For a man or woman born natural to Lucidea, the ability to become something powerful was never an idea that was far out of reach. In the old days, before the apocalypse came, one could offer their services to the Lords of their respective kingdoms in exchange for a way to unlock a person's true potential. This option became viable once the person reached the age of adulthood for their specific race. The ritual used to imbue these people with their power is one that's origin is too old to properly date the conception of, but is known as one of the most sacred things in all of the realm.
Every being that draws breath on the land of Lucidea has a unique energy that is tapped directly into their core. It is energy in it's purest; not tainted by out-world sources such as mana, not corrupted by the purity of your own will, and not tarnished by the feats of your own strength. Be you a small child or a mighty warrior, the amount of energy each being possesses is equal; this is a true constant throughout the land. What causes this energy to become power, is simply how you allow the world around it to access, and taint it. Through a ritual of great care and detail, one can use ancient artefacts known as Sunstones to allow the energy of the earth to tap into your inner power. Doing this causes your inner energies to be interwoven with the specific energy of the earth that is most dominant at that time. There are four main COMBAT energies of the realm: MAGICAL, SPIRITUAL, DOMINANT, and SHADE. After the great apocalypse. a fifth type of energy, once only used for the growth of plants and other floral things began to mutate, seeming to be the same or similar to the power that the very beasts of the plague use to combat what little remnants of society Lucidea has left. Known as EVOLUTIONARY energy; the method to gain this power and using it in general are widely considered taboo, but has proven to be one of the most effective in terms of raw power.

Once the most common forms of energy seen on Lucidea, it has since become slightly Taboo. Although the general population understands that there can never be life without magical energy, many stand firm that it was the abuse of this type of magic that caused Evolutionary energy to become so out of control as it did during the period of Green Death. This type of energy relies on a person conceptualizing it into a basic form of thought; they then project that thought outwards in the form of a "spell" or attack.

Spiritual Energy

Spirit is the most diverse type of energy in the entire realm, and this is because of one simple fact, it is affected solely by your personality. Spiritual energy comes from the core of your determination and will. This can be unlocked from almost anything; pleasure, pain, belief, disbelief, dependance, and even independence will suffice. Many people see this as the strongest type of energy, due to it being the closest to your body aside from pure energy alone. In a primal sense this is true, but because of it's fluidity in nature, it can be easily redirected at the hands of someone with great experience. This branch of energy will give you the most freedom to develop your characters abilities, but will also limit how you must go about fighting an opponent.

Dominant Energy

Dominant energy is the most closely related to physical strength and feats of action. This energy is known to intertwine with not only your inner core; but your muscles and organs as well. Even if you take the ritual as a lanky young man, within months your body will start to gain a toned, physically fit appearance, despite if you've done absolutely nothing to merit it or not. Styles of combat with this type of energy link directly with the use of weaponry and learning to use your energy as a catalyst of your own physical power. Although this is the most raw form of energy in a sense of attack, learning to train your body to be able to handle the stress of using high amounts of dominant energy is severe, and can even be life threatening.

Shade Energy

Contrary to popular belief, Shade energy does not necessarily mean that you are tapping into the evil and terrible parts of the earth. Shade energy means literally what it is; you are tapping into the darkness found on the earth, and the energies that govern them. This type of energy allows you to use your dexterity and wit above all else, becoming someone who will outsmart and trick their foe rather than just kill them in straight combat. This being said; there are very dark paths that one can walk down upon learning to harness shade energy. Those who learn to utilize it's power walk a line of deceit, lies, and treachery. How or if your ends justify your means is up to you alone.

Evolutionary Energy

Before the cataclysm; many scholars pondered the concept of a sixth energy floating about the world; one that was used simply on a level of nature. It was dubbed evolutionary energy, and was considered to be the force that caused most of nature to sprout up. They theorized that it was the same energy that caused a sapling to eventually shift into a hulking tree, and a tiny caterpillar to transform into a beautiful butterfly. It was all simple speculation and legend, until the Green Death appeared and caused the energy to provide much more substantial evidence towards it's existence.
Many often wonder as to why the energy seemed to change so horribly wrong as it did, but the most widespread hypothesis is one that blames magics. Although there are no seasons in Lucidea as there are on earth (Biomes are simply geographical, and not subject to change as months/years go by), there were always periods of great change, known as "shifting seasons". In these times, various underground plates and rock beds begin to shift into new positions, causing terrible earthquakes. The wildlife would have to start anew and rebuild their homes every few years. To avoid this problem with man-made settlements, Mages would often cover the area in a thick magical cloud; one that would prevent these shifts from taking effect. A lot of people have decided that because of this defiance of nature, the evolutionary energies began to build up so much that their only release came from infecting the animals of the world, causing them to become the horrible monstrosities that they currently are.
How a person is to imbue themselves with this energy is added proof to back up this claim. Sunstones are not used to become a practitioner of Evolutionary Energy. Instead, one must collect a large amount of blood from one of the infected creatures; drinking it and surviving the symptoms (that often prove fatal) until the taint becomes one with your own core. Most figure killing your own beast will cause the bond to become more powerful; but killing a creature of the green death without any form of combat energy is next to impossible. It is often sold in dark corners of the world, by the most shady of salesmen.
Evolutionary Energy in a person in the concept of changing ones body to adapt to a certain situation, only to shift back into it's regular state once it's purpose has been served. This can take place via legitimate mutation of the body, or even just creating things in the environment that could evolve to a persons advantage. Because of its ties to the Green Death, Evolutionary energy has changed immensely, and although the use of this energy is not banned, it is highly frowned upon. Expect a character who utilizes Evolutionary energy to be shunned by most, unless they find their own community.
