The Story So Far....
ACT ONE: The Brooding Storm
Through means not yet understood, a massive explosion Occurred in the wastelands, not far from the Epicentre of the green death. it took the Militia and military a while to send scouts out to survey the damage, and their findings were Appalling. the crater was massive, large enough to contain a village, and its entire surface area was coated in a strange, alien rock. thousands of dead bodies lined the perimeter of the hole, and a cause of death for these nameless cadavers has yet to be determined. the only lead any of the investigators seem to draw on was that the sand walkers --a tribe that live outside the safe zones-- had been reportedly sneaking around the blast area not long after it's initial creation. The tribe is too elusive to track down for questioning without proper planning, but various campaigns are in the works from both factions. This explosion has only caused to increase the tension between the royal militia and military, as both sides assume this was the testing of a weapon created by the other. their theories are so similar in fact, it would seem as if something, or someone, in the shadows were pulling strings....The possibility of war is drawing ever closer...
Prolouge: What We Once Were.
This is The land of lucidea. It resides on it's own plain of existence, and although it had been debated that other masses of land exist on this plain, nobody has ever gone far enough to discover anything Substantial. Lucidea's main Continent (named simply after the world) was once a very thick and forested area, mostly cut down for the building of great cities and quaint, small towns. the remaining forests were rich with wildlife and various natural resources, each highly significant to its Success as an economy. It's been ruled by a Hierarchy since it's creation, and had it's issues just like any great nation, but it was relatively at peace. the offshoot island to the north (dubbed chillbrace) was controlled by the same government, but mostly contained villages of "reformed" tribal warrior bands, and an offshoot of Lucidea's Hierarchy. The other continent was simply dubbed as "the hunting grounds", a famous yet mysterious area which hunters were known to frequent, as strange game and relics of an older time could often be found in it's heavily unexplored forests.
However, as all good fantasy stories go, things didn't stay this way forever. eventually, through means Completely unknown and without any Possible rationalization, a seemingly magical breed of creatures began to populate the land. they started out as only a small threat to tinier villiages and moderate kingdoms, but it was soon realized that this particular strain of beasts could mutate their bodies over the period of a single generation, and could Compensate for issues in their Environment. due to their quick breeding; what was first a simple threat soon became a horrible race of differentiating threats, each specifically designed for killing the sentient races of lucidea, and laying siege to their created constructs. some of the most powerful mages in all of lucidea, who were thought to be one of the final lines of defense between the people and their horrible deaths, all seemingly decided to abandon the cause, creating massive floating cities above their old homes, leaving EVERYONE that wasn't a part of their seemingly secret "cult" behind. Due to the power of the enemy, and the abandonment of so many mages, Within two years, most of lucidea's main Continent was destroyed, and the excess use of energies during the intense battles transformed the area into a harsh, barren wasteland. a small portion of the main continent was saved, and a great barrier was constructed to keep out the threat. however, by this time; 80% of lucidea's former population had been killed.
Fearing that the main barrier would not hold forever, most of the surviving military decided they were done working for the royal family; and would find a way to survive on their own. this included the most powerful of their ranks; the constructmancers. the constructmancers are powerful energy-Manipulators who can create massive constructions of metal and stone from any other element in the world. With their combined strength, they proceeded to create a massive fortress in the open sea to the east of the continent, almost as large as their original home. the military, and their golems (sentient creatures created by the construct mancers) left the royal family and citizens to fight on their own, only taking their immediate family to live with them. this created a massive riot between the now two Separate factions. with the military's strength far superior, it ended almost quickly as it began, and a peace treaty was signed, allowing the branch off to legally Commence. their new home was dubbed mutantbane fortress. over the years that followed, the few remaining military loyal to the king would begin training the rest of the population left with them, creating a powerful group of royal Militia.
all the while, the citizens and offshoot government that populated chillbrace decided it was best to sever their ties with the main Continent Altogether. they figured that the mutant species would not be able to travel across the sea to reach their continent, and even if they could, they would not be able to traverse or survive the large mountain ranges and horrible conditions protecting their encampments. with very little protest, they decided to leave the rest of the world to die. as karma would dictate, they were eventually repaid for their selfishness when the "evolutionary beasts" (as many began to call them) eventually were able to produce monsters suited to their Environment. it took less than a year for the entire population of chillbrace to be culled.

It was soon realized that there was more than just the beasts beyond the walls of the saved lands. survivors of the "Green death" (as many called it) soon found out they could Manipulate the very energy that the beasts used (a corrupted version of energy once used to create flora and other plant-based structures) to their advantage; and even form strange alliances with the creatures. this energy corrupted their minds, and created horribly tribal Societies. their Existence is barely known; but it is said that they are slowly becoming smart enough to infiltrate modern Societies; with plans and motives unknown.
as the years went by, social ties between the factions began to worsen. branches of the military who hated their metal confines began to protest the actions taken by higher command, deeming them as inhuman, and "almost as Monstrous as the evolutionary beasts". growing a hatred for their Artificial life style, a large number soon began to abandon the fortress to seek forgiveness and solitude back on the main continent, which seemed to be thriving. this created a much more balanced war power between the two factions; and whispers of war began to float in the wind. the mages of what was know known as the "astral isles" very rarely communicated with the other factions, for a very good reason. both the royals and the military hated them, blaming them for the severity of their situation. talks of an attack on what people were Beginning to call "The astral isles" were also Rumoured in both factions. around the same time, a strange, yet powerful magical barrier began to spread out around the edges of the hunting grounds, and anyone who tried to retreat their for solace against the hungering beasts would only find their boats ripped apart from a strange magical energy, and their eventually deaths at the hands of the aquatic versions of the evolutionary beasts. nobody is sure who created the barrier, but each of the factions seem to blame eachother, causing the tension of war to increase more and more as days go by.
