Evolutionary Creatures of the Land
The Wraiths
A pitch black, lanky creature; measuring about seven feet tall. A Wraith is a worthy adversary, and it's brute strength is enough to rip humans limb from limb, or even slam through steel like glass. These beasts are faster than the average human, and extremely adept at stealth manoeuvres. Although wraiths seem to be birthed en mass (see Wraithmother), they all go their separate way unless their mother is attacked during birth. They do not stay in packs, and tend to hunt alone. Wraiths are some of the few types of creatures that REQUIRE to feed on humans in order to survive (They can still eat animals to sustain, but human meat is necessary for growth)."
The WraithMothers
Although regular Wraiths tend to die of starvation after a couple of months; the ones that are able to survive from killing humans and other animals can transform into Wraith Mothers after a handful of years. Wraith Mothers are massive balls of shadow, that look almost like giant orbs of black energy from a distance. The orb itself seems to cast regular shadows on the ground around them, which seemingly resemble that of a female human; leading to questions about the initial creation of Wraith Mothers. Wraith Mothers are capable of spitting out almost constant productions of wraiths, but are known to stop for periods of three to four weeks. They can start again if threatened; but their productions wont be as strong as their scheduled "birthing". For reasons unknown, Wraith Mothers do not require food or sustenance of any kind (to our knowledge) to survive."
The Wasteland Tuskers
Measuring four feet tall, and nine feet from tail to tusk, these beasts are powerful adversaries. Tuskers are adept hunters, using their unparalleled sense of smell to pursue prey for miles. Nothing is more attractive to a Wasteland Tusker than fresh human blood. Tuskers hunt in packs, and are generally known to hunt other evolutionary beasts to survive. Tuskers work with surprising teamwork when together, but can turn on each other over in two scenarios. The first being in cases of extreme hunger (cannibalism is not a surprising trait for evolutionary beasts) and the second being sight of a human. If there are enough humans to satisfy all the Tuskers, no problem shall arise; but because of their unexplainable thirst for human flesh and blood, they will turn on each other quickly if there isn't enough to go around."
The Scions
A pure abomination, standing anywhere from five to eight feet tall. The Scions are masses of limbs and tendrils, with only one goal: To destroy humans and their cities. These beasts will often go out of their way to attack human constructs, using their titanic strength to destroy anything in their way. Scions don't seem to possess any senses; as they have no visible ears, eyes, or noses. Based on their evolutionary attacks, it is possible they somehow use their energies to navigate the area, and could explain why they are so drawn to man made structures. The most intimidating factor a Scion possess lies with it's ability to clone itself. If a scion is to lose a majority of it's limbs in combat but is not killed, it can regenerate their lost limbs over a period of minutes. The original limbs will begin to form a new, albeit smaller Scion; taking only about fifteen minutes to reach full maturity. Aside from their clones, Scions are known to travel alone; their young leaving their mother directly after birth. It is unknown why the clones stick around, however."
The Lotharios
Lothario's resemble some of the natural animals of Lucidea, possessing back legs of a goat, while it's frontal legs are similar to that of a gorilla's arms. The frontal arms are also equipped with razor sharp claws, spanning about four inches. The average Lothario stands at around three and a half feet tall on all fours. A maw full of jagged teeth, and curved horns complete the Lothario’s arsenal. A single charge from one of these beasts is enough to break a human ribcage. Lothario's travel in large packs of about six or seven; but upon the creation of a Shaman (see below), the packs can grow to be dozens in number. They are renown sexual deviants, both the males and females raping and sexual assaulting each other as well as their prey."
The Lothario Shamans
Nobody has ever seen a Lothario transform into a shaman, but because of their likeness, and other tests and studies, it has been concluded that they are in fact transformed, and not birthed. During this transformation (which we assume takes only a night), their front arms begin to regress into more humanoid looking appendages (although they still keep their claws), and they start to walk upright on two of their hind legs. Their face looses skin, as well as eyes, and must be guided around by the other members of the Lothario herd. Only males can transform into Shamans, implying that they are patriarchal in nature. The most terrifying thing about shamans, despite their seemingly frail appearance, is their intelligence. Not only are they capable of ordering their pack (seemingly through telepathy), they are also able to produce basic magical spells. It seems that they somehow are able to develop into an elemental class."
The Meta Lions
A true predator, capable of sprinting for hours on end. Standing at six feet tall, and nine feet from head to tail, the Meta-Lion is a tough customer. With the many other heads it possesses, this beast can see in almost 360 degrees; when combined with it's acute senses, this factor makes a Meta-Lion almost impossible to sneak up on. Although Meta Lions hunt alone, their dens can be populated with up to 20 of the beasts. Their societies revolve around a matriarchal breeder; the males staying in their dens, while the females leave at a young age to start their own."
The Muck Tyrants
Residing within the wetter, more swamp-like territories of Lucidea, these beasts measure a good sixteen feet tall. They are akin to snakes, having a twenty-four foot tail which trails behind it's large frame. Two pairs of arms adorn every Muck Tyrant's sides, almost as dangerous as it's mouthful of serrated teeth. Muck Tyrants have been known to spew forth a slightly acidic gas. They are asexual in nature, able to create eggs full of young over their lifespans. The young stay with their mother until they are about two years from full maturity, finding their own dens to populate, or even killing other Muck Tyrants to populate their dens. They tend to save unconscious humans and animals in their dens, restraining them and allowing them to starve to death before eating them. Ones that cause too much commotion are instead eaten alive."
The MagMaws
These creatures are well over the sizes of a horse, and are one of the more dangerous creatures in Lucidea. Magma spews forth from both of the beast's mouths, and the many gashes on it's sides. Being pinned by a MagMaw is sure death. Similar to Meta-Lions, MagMaw's hunt alone, but reside in dens, close to the various volcano's that have shot up in the barren parts of the wasteland. Fiercely competitive with one another, they tend to hunt other creatures for food, but humans for sport. The large spikes on their backs are used to hold severed limbs of their latest kills."
The Sandwurms
Measuring roughly fifty feet in length, Sandwurms are capable of devouring a decently sized cottage in a single gulp. While possessing no real abilities, Sandwurms are coated with a solid armour, and are simply immense. Sandwurms live deep below the surface of the world, so it is almost impossible for researchers to study their birthing or living conditions. All that is known is that they tend to travel and hunt alone; and the older, larger sandwurms can produce a powerful attack where they spew semi-digested gore from their mouths, capable of melting human flesh and bone down to nothing."
